Alfredo & Isabel Aquilizan are a Brisbane-based Filipino artist-duo whose collaborative practice evolves around the idea of working with a specific community— a vital process that coats their work in a multiplicity of narratives and shared histories. “After In-Habit”: Project Another Country (2017) reflects earlier ephemeral installations, including its recent reiteration Dwelling after In-Habit: Project Another Country (2017), that speak of migration, dislocation, and the flux of life.

Here, the artists employed the motif of the balikbayan box, signifying movement and travel—particularly in the context of the Philippines, where objects of utilitarian and sentimental value are packed and shipped home/abroad. Using recycled cardboard houses from In-Habit: Project Another Country (2012-2015) as printing plates for Dwelling and “After In-Habit”, the artists stretched the possibilities of their cardboard box metaphor, creating imprints that resemble the nomadic dwellings and makeshift shantytowns of their three-dimensional counterparts.

The Collector's Edition marks fifteen years of celebrated collaborations between STPI and its artists.
