Internationally acclaimed artist Dinh Q. Lê consistently challenges how memories are recalled - specifically within the context of our contemporary life.

Lê revisited Cambodia as a central narrative at STPI, with the intention of exploring scale and three-dimensional works through new materials and methods such as silver foiling and the cyanotype. This resulting print from the Splendor & Darkness (STPI) series incorporates previously unchartered techniques of screen-printing and engraving in the overlaying of imagery steeped in Cambodian history. Instead of entwining photographic strips of Khmer temples, Lê combines portraits of the Khmer Rouge victims with deities against a backdrop of temple wall carvings, conjuring new readings and reflections on a collective history. “I hope the portraits from Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum will become more than just images of vitctims of the Khmer Rouge; that the images of Angkor Wat wall carvings will not only represent the height of Cambodia, but the victims who made such monuments possible.”

The Collector's Edition marks fifteen years of celebrated collaborations between STPI and its artists.
